Honey Apple Galette

This is one of my favorites dessert! Easy peasy tart without a tart tin. You will be able to see my Youtube video.

Apple glatte

 

Here is the simple step!

Ingredients:

For the pastry:
175g plain flour
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
112g cold butter
56ml milk
1/4 tbsp lemon juice

For the filling
2 medium apples, sliced
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp brandy (if available)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
28g ground almond

1 egg beaten with 1tsp water for egg wash
2 tbsp light brown muscovado sugar

  1. To make buttermilk, add lemon juice into the milk and set aside for 5 mins
  2. For the pastry, pulse together the flour, cold butter, sugar, salt and the butter milk. Blitz until well combined.
  3. Transfer the dough onto lightly floured work surface and lightly kneed it. Chill in the fridge at least 1 hour (Overnight is the best)
  4. Meanwhile, for the filling, peel and slice 2 medium size apples and splash some lemon juice to keep them from turning brown
  5. In a large bowl, add apples with honey, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, brand and mix well.
  6. Roll the chilled dough to a 2-3mm thickness
  7. Spread ground almond evenly, leaving about 1 cm around the boarder
  8. Arrange the apple in concentric circles, overlapping the apple slices as you go
  9. Fold the edges of the dough
  10. Place it in the fridge for 30 mins
  11. Preheat the oven 200°C. Brush the edges with egg wash and sprinkle muscovado sugar. Brush the egg wash
  12. Bake it for 30-35 mins
